Special Agent

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Initiates, plans and conducts investigations, which includes developing and following leads; performing effective interviews; collecting, organizing, and analyzing data; and preparing reports and other investigative case documentation.
  2. Demonstrates and applies knowledge of investigative policies, techniques and procedures to TVA programs and operations.
  3. Develops and maintains relationships within TVA as well as with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
  4. Researches and applies TVA policies, utility industry trends, and legal requirements to applicable casework.
  5. Assesses risk within TVA, and conducts fraud risk assessments and fraud awareness briefings.
  6. Participates in investigative quality control processes including file reviews.
Education Requirements:

Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university . Because of the wide variety of investigative work conducted, a variety of degrees are applicable.

Experience Requirements:

Requirements vary based on position level. Special Agent I is an entry-level position with no experience required. Special Agent II, III, and Senior level positions require additional experience.

Other Requirements:
  1. Must qualify and maintain authorization to carry firearms/weapons.
  2. Must successfully pass random drug testing.
  3. Must be able to successfully complete a physical examination.
  4. Must possess a valid driver's license, as travel is required.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must be able to pass a background investigation to receive top secret clearance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. Knowledge of investigative standards and techniques, including the rules of evidence and criminal procedures.
  2. Ability to use a variety of office software tools, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, a variety of databases, and computer-assisted investigative techniques.
  3. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with a diverse population.
  4. Demonstrates strong team and interpersonal skills to include leadership, flexibility, judgment, and conflict resolution.
